What a beautiful day here! The weather has been perfect the last couple of days. This is my favorite time of year, for sure. Nicer weather during the day, but still cools enough at night. The bugs aren't too bad yet either.
So today we had a fairly normal morning. The two older kids went next door to play with the neighbour's daughter (she's 3 and they just love her!) and Emily and I washed the van down. We had gone to Red Deer the other day to do some shopping and I had really wanted to go home through all the back roads and see the pretty country side. Larry had just washed the van the day before though and really wasn't that eager to dust it up on gravel roads. Well, he finally decided that the van didn't matter so much as "feeding your soul" (as I put it) with the view. And it was so worth it! We saw some beautiful little places, so lovely. Anyways, to thank him for being willing to dirty up the van for me, I decided to wash it back up again. And I really enjoyed it! Emily had a wet rag and "helped" too. I was very careful, and checked everything over when I was done. I have to say I was rather pleased with myself! This evening, when Larry came home and we saw the van I was surprised to find big smear marks all over!!! What?!?!?! I thought I had been so careful, how could this happen!?!? Well.... A certain 7 yr old boy had found the wet washing brush and decided to touch things up himself later. Nice. So now the van looks really dorky! I guess that will be tomorrows job....lol
Yesterday a friend and I took our kids over to the camp ground park for a while. We brought picnic lunches and enjoyed visiting (and making multiple trips to the potties there with little ones!) We both managed to brand ourselves fairly good with sun burns too. Hopefully they turn into nice tans, so all this pain is at least worth something!
Today being another nice day, we had hoped to find babysitters so we could sneak away for a double date with some friends. Take the motorbikes out and go out for dinner or something. But neither of us could find sitters! Another friend of ours could have taken ours, but I wasn't sure if the hours would work out. Anyways, we've been trying to get to this bike shop out of town and so we decided to go out there and see if they had a good bike for Levi. He's outgrown his other one. Anyways, we modified our double date plans and made a good time of it! Our friends came out with their kids too and we all went for dinner at this home cooking-type restaurant in a nearby town. Was fun, a wee bit gongshow'ish, but I think we're all used to that, so no worries for us. Then we went over to a park and let the kids get good and dirty in the sand. Was a great park, lots of fun! Anyways, the day is done now. The kids are all showered and in bed and the house quiet. I really should clean my kitchen.... I'd rather not though...
