Busy busy busy!

Well, I haven't forgotten about my blog... I've thought of so many posts to write, and I haven't had a chance to write them. Or sometimes, they sound so good in my head, and then I get half way through them and they're cheesy... not to say my other posts aren't, but those ones would be blue cheese I guess... haha

Anyways, I've spent every minute (or so it seems) the last two days getting ready for my big dinner I was hosting today. We had company coming over for a late Thanksgiving and I had SO much fun cooking up a storm for it all! I'm no chef, but I enjoy being in the kitchen. I made a ham up, since I figured everyone would have been turkey'd out from last week. So... here's the menu..

We started with...
Spiced pumpkin soup, yes Auntie Leila, I used your recipe!
Then salad, which my mom brought, lovely, with kiwi and strawberries in it too. I was too busy doing stuff so I didn't get to try it, looked great though.
Cheese cubes.
Layered Jello salad
And fresh buns, yes, I made them...

Then the hot meal was...
Honey glazed ham- I cooked it with cranberry sauce, turned out nice.
Scalloped potatoes
Asparagus (my mom brought this, ) very nice!
Baked yam (which sadly didn't turn out very well...)
and Peas. I was going to do corn or carrots so we wouldn't have two green veggies... but...

Dessert was...

Pumpkin Pie (our guest brought this, homemade from her own garden pumpkins even! I've got three pieces left... better hurry over!) and Lemon Meringue Pie.

Are you hungry yet? It was yummy! And oh so much fun to make! I took a picture of the decorated table (best I can do... I'm not much of a decorator, and I didn't have any of the beautiful things I'd dreamed of having on hand... oh well) and if I think of it I'll post a pic later. It's late here now, and I should crash, it's been a busy two days! Most people could get this much done in much less time, but around here, things take longer!

  3. Yep, we had turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes (the kind that has tons of sugar on top with pecans...Jay makes that), salads, potatoes, pie....Mom brought the pumpkin pie and pot's. I think I could have that once a week!:) If you ever do turkey buy one of those bags for cooking them in...super easy that way:) I think they're called "ok" bags.
